Victim In Wrong-Way Cedartown Tractor-Trailer Wreck Identified As Charles R. Samuels

The Georgia State Patrol is investigating a fatal three-vehicle crash that occurred Wednesday February 26, 2020 between a vehicle traveling in the wrong direction on a major highway and two tractor-trailers.

According to authorities, the deadly crash took place on US-27 at Adams Road in front of Meadow Lakes Golf Club. One person was killed in the accident. The victim of the crash has been identified as 76-year-old Charles R. Samuels of Cedartown. There were no passengers in the vehicle driven by Samuels.

Georgia State Patrol authorities reported that a Honda Accord, driven by Samuels, pulled into a southbound lane of US-27 while heading north and struck a tractor-trailer head on.  That tractor-trailer then swerved and struck a second tractor-trailer. For reasons unknown at this time, the names and condition of the tractor-trailer drivers have not been released.

Reports said that the wreck, which occurred around 5 am on February 26, 2020, closed lanes in both directions on US-27 for hours.

According to Polk County Coroner, Tony Brazier, Samuels was extricated and taken to Floyd Medical Center where he was pronounced dead from massive traumatic injuries at 8:09 am.

The Georgia State Patrol is still investigating the crash at this time.
